April 17
Woke up around 9:15 because some of the crew were cleaning the balcony area (don't know the actual name) in front of my cabin. It was a beautiful sunny day so I decided to make it to the pool. Arrived around 9:45 and there were plenty of seats. I spent about 70 minutes at the pool - half sitting in the sun and the other half in the pool. The pool water was the perfect temperature for a hot day.
Trivia was at noon today. We had 14 out of 18 and came in third.
Q. What is the capital of Nicaragua?
Q. What musical is "Whistling a Happy Tune" from?
Q. Which Soviet leader approved the building of the Berlin Wall?
Lunch in the Lido and I sat with Connie and Sue from the trivia team. After lunch I watched the pool games at the Seaview Pool for a while but it was too hot to stay lone.
We were supposed to Play Bunco at 2 pm but only four showed up so we sat and talked instead of playing.
Our Cruise Critic roll call had organized a wine tasting event in on the member's suite. About 20 showed up and although I only tasted two wines, it was a lot of fun. I tried ice wine and chocolate wine both of which were sweet (which I like) and quite good.
Evening trivia was the hardest of the entire cruise. We had a good time but did not do too well.
Q. Which city is home to the largest bowling alley?
Q. What was Mother Teresa's given name?
Q. How many hearts does an octopus have?
Tonight was a formal night and Beef Wellington and lobster were featured on the menu. I, of course, had the Beef Wellington. After dinner was the Officer's Black and White Gala. Who knew that Captain van Eerten was a great dancer! Door prizes were given to passengers who chose the right officer with which to dance. One lady won twice.
We gain another hour of sleep tonight.
